Keep It Simple and easy while camping with kids

If you are a gourmet foodie, you’ll still want to make colorful and tasty meals even when you’re camping. But if it’s your family’s first time camping, it’s best to keep things simple. Cooking outside with just a few tools and ingredients can be tough. Instead of trying to make everything perfect right away, focus on having fun together while camping with easy camping meals for family. This way, everyone feels more relaxed, and cooking becomes a fun lesson for your kids. It’s a great start for families new to camping.

Make Camping More Fun with Classic Hot Dogs & Hamburgers!

Hot dogs and hamburgers are camping staples. While adults might think it’s just about grilling, for kids, cooking these on a campfire is an exciting new adventure! It’s a fantastic way for them to learn basic cooking skills and enjoy the satisfaction of making their own meal. Perfect for families looking to create fun camping memories!

Frozen Foods: A Great Start for Camping with Kids!

Starting with frozen food can make camping meals with kids much easier and more fun! Since these foods are usually pre-seasoned, you can just toss them in a pan or a pot and cook. This is a great way for kids to get involved with minimal fuss. I personally like to cook Asian food while camping. Nowadays, there are many Asian frozen foods such as fried rice, dumplings, and meat buns available at grocery stores, especially Trader Joe’s! Frozen foods are perfect for adding variety and flavor to your camping meals!

They don’t have to be Grammable!

Camping with kids means lots of photo opportunities and social media posts. However, focusing too much on capturing the perfect shot can distract from the true purpose of your trip: having fun together. Don’t stress if the meals aren’t pretty or perfectly plated. Messy meals are just part of the camping experience. Enjoy creating memories more than creating the perfect Instagram post!

Just be easy!

Most kids prefer playing instead of cooking. If parents spend too much time preparing meals or cleaning up, they might not be able to watch their kids closely. Plus, the outdoors can be risky with fire or things like sticks and rocks that might cause injuries. That’s why our family’s rule when our kids were younger was to keep camp cooking simple with easy camp cooking. This way, everyone can have more fun exploring and less time worrying about meals.

Smart Prep: The Secret to Stress-Free Camping with Kids

Before your camping adventure, chop your vegetables and meat at home. It’s a fun way to get the whole family involved if your kids are available. If not, that’s okay too—just cooking with pre-cut ingredients can make kids feel proud of their cooking. And if you’re short on prep time, frozen vegetables are a handy and recommended alternative. This prep work simplifies cooking at the campsite, making mealtime enjoyable for everyone.

Pack Extra Food for Camping with Kids

Anyone with kids knows that spills and drops during meals are just part of the routine. Food sometimes ends up on the ground instead of in mouths. Camping is no different. It’s a good idea to pack extra food just in case something gets dropped or spilled. That way, you’ll have enough to keep everyone full and happy during your camping trip.

Instant noodles are a great backup food for camping trips! It’s smart to pack extra—like cup noodles or plenty of snacks. This way, if your meal plans don’t work out, you still have something quick and filling to eat. You can find a variety of instant noodles at local grocery stores such as Costco, and even at Amazon! My favorite is the Nissin Cup Noodles. They are so yummy!!

Camping can be unpredictable, and having extra food means you can easily handle any surprises. With instant noodles in your pack, you’re ready for anything and can keep the mood light, even if things don’t go as planned.
